Day 6 and 7 – Passport application and down time.

Yesterday, our Day 6 was the day we applied for Tian’s Chinese passport in her home city of Nanyang. Left the hotel at 9:15am. It was a 3.5 hour drive to the offices. When we got to Nanyang, we had 20 minutes until the offices reopened at 1:00, so we had some DMQ for lunch. A KFC like restaurant with chicken sandwiches and fries. The paperwork took about 20 minutes, got our photo taken and back into the van for the 4 hour drive back to Zhengzhou. Tian did amazingly well. We were prepared for the worse knowing we would be in a van for about 8 hours. She slept a bit, shared with me everything in the baby bag, had some juice and more french fries. We saw her cry for the first time just before she took her afternoon nap. The tears lasted about 12 seconds and she was out until we got back to the hotel at 5:30.

Went to dinner at the Island Coffee Café with Tom and his son, Sawyer. Get it? Tom Sawyer? Food is hit or miss here and the service is a bit off. Hunter had chocolate waffles with Chocolate syrup. Yes, Waffles and syrup for dinner. Kid’s been so good he can have what ever he wants. Kerry had some rice and beef and I, Spicy Curry Chicken Fried Rice. It was quite spicy, but very good. We were all exhausted and ready to crash early. Tian had a perfect night. Down at 9 and up at 7 this morning.

Day 7 - Today has been a quiet day. Only thing planned to receive some paperwork form our guide, Yishi. We Skyped with Marilyn, MaryAnn and Kristen this morning. We have spent the whole morning in the room, but have big plans to visit the Pizza Hut and Wal-mart this afternoon with some of our new friends. Then some pool time and the playroom here at the hotel.

Everyday has been great and they seem to get better and better. The transition has been almost perfect so far. I hope I don’t jinx it. She’s laughing more and more. Comes to Kerry and I when we call her name and hold out our hands. She’s a giver. Loves to pick up toys and share them with us. We did the same with all the other kids in the playroom last night. All of us are savoring every moment. Thanks again for the love and letting us share!
