Day 3 – Flight to Zhengzhou

Today had some neat highlights for an “off” day. We woke up to snow on the ground! No one even mentioned there would be a chance for that. Hunter hopped into the bus before I could hit him with a snowball. He would have never seen it coming.

Flight was on time. Less than 2 hours in the air. Just as cold here as in Beijing, but beautiful blue skies and significantly less pollution. On to another bus and at the hotel by 2:00. Kerry went to exchange money and hey, there they are. Just now they walked in from a visit to Wal-Mart. We needed more diapers, rice formula and a warm jacket, gloves and hat for Tian.

My number one is doing great on this trip. I actually caught him reading at the airport and helping others in our group with their bags. We’ll be here for the next 6 nights, so this afternoon we walked around a couple blocks getting a lay of the land. It was windy, cold, lots of noisy traffic and no toy stores in sight and still, no complaints. I have a great kid.

OK, the highlights. First, Yishi, our CCAI local guide, gave us an itinerary and an update on Tian. It stated when she eats, what she eats, when she poops, how and when she sleeps, still in diapers, but the best info of all… it said and I quote. “She likes stuffed toy and the toy which can make sounds which mail from Mom.”  We both read it at the same time and got choked up. Awe…. On paper, she sounds like the perfect little girl. Happy, not fussy about food, likes baths, sleeps through the night and they call her Ping Ping.

Highlight number 2. When we were walking down the hall to our room, we saw the cribs at the end of the hall. 5 of them, staged, one of them for our room. About an hour ago, one of the staff rolled it in. So very cool. Now just waiting to fill it.

We head to the registration office at 9:30 tomorrow morning. We expect to get Tian, between 10 and 11:30. Next post will be with pics of my daughter. Woot – Woot.
