We made it to Guangzhou !
The last step of the adoption! Here we get Tian’s medical check up and her
Visa. It’s going to be a long, but fun week. Several free days, but they have some
trips and group dinners / photos planned for us. Tomorrow we’ll visit a
Buddhist temple and an arts & crafts shopping center. I heard we can
buy some neat souvenirs and nicely priced Jade jewelry there. On Monday, the
Pearl River Cruise and Tuesday, the Guangzhou
City Zoo. Visa photos,
medical exams and oaths at the US Consulate sprinkled in.
Tian did great on the flight… Up until it was her nap time.
Poor girl just couldn’t get comfortable. 20 minutes of squirming and tears
until fully exhausted, she passed out with 20 minutes left in the air. She was
passed out all the way to baggage claim and woke up the happy kid we’ve seen
all week.
The Marriott China Hotel is fantastic. Our room is huge and
very comfortable. 6 more nights, so comfort is very high on our priority list.
There’s a Starbucks downstairs, a few nice restaurants and a wine shop. Kerry
got her Pinot! And I see massages in our futures. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. A 2
hour, perfumed oil foot and body massage for only $60.00!
We are seeing several other adopting families walking
around. Looks like the US Consulate is going to be busy this week. All the kids
appear to be no older than 2 or 3. Also, I’m surprised how many families are on
their 2nd or 3rd adoption. Found out today there are 3 in
our group of 9.
We had dinner here in the Hotel and planning to settle in
with a movie tonight. Still haven’t had a great meal yet. I’ll eat anything and
roll with the local cuisine, but Hunter was disappointed again. Can’t seem to
please this kid. Only Pizza Hut and McDonald’s went over without a hitch.
Hello to Blanche and her Bridge Club in Toms River ,
NJ. Thanks for your interest in our trip. Believe me, Tian is a sweet in person
as she is in these photos. We’ll be sure to send you a Christmas card!
